Student Engagement and New Media Technologies

Edward Maloney, Georgetown University
Thursday, March 10, 2011; 1pm-3pm

How can we rethink our teaching practice to make productive use of electronically- mediated discourse? In this workshop, we will explore various ways web technologies can encourage your students to engage with you, with their own work, with each other, and with the material of the course. We will discuss the role that different web and social networking technologies–including blogs, wikis, and ePortfolios, as well as new tools to create knowledge commons for group engagement — can play in the learning process, and we will reflect together on how to integrate these new media spaces into the life of your course.
