Public Transportation

Getting around Washington DC is most easily planned by consulting the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s (WMATA) online Trip Planner (http://www.wmata.com). Taking public transportation to Georgetown University is highly recommended, as parking can be difficult. On weekdays (Monday-Friday) and Saturdays, Georgetown University Transportation Shuttles (GUTS) run between campus (outside the Leavey Center) and the following destinations: Rosslyn Metro Station and Dupont Circle. On weekdays (Monday-Friday), there is a shuttle between campus and Nos. 2115 and 2233 on Wisconsin Avenue. The GUTS service is free, but visitors must present an ID (e.g. driver’s license or passport) upon getting on the bus.
GUTS Shuttles operate every 5-10 minutes during peak commuting times, and every 20 minutes at other times. For Rosslyn, the GUTS stop is at 19th and Moore Streets. For Dupont Circle, the GUTS stop is at 20th Street and Massachusetts Avenue. For more information about the shuttle service, please visit the GUTS Website.
The Wisconsin Ave. Holiday Inn (but no other Holiday Inn) offers free shuttle service to the Georgetown campus upon request.

Parking

Off campus: Parking near and around the Georgetown campus can be difficult, especially on weekdays. Street parking around campus is severely limited and strictly enforced by DC police. Most streets require a DC residential permit for parking longer than two hours. A limited number of metered spaces are available on Reservoir Road, 37th Street, and Prospect Street, which allow parking for 3 hours at a time.
On campus: Visitor parking spaces are available in the Georgetown Southwest Garage, for a flat rate of $18 per day. To reach this garage, you must take the Canal Road entrance to Georgetown University (see campus map at http://explore.georgetown.edu/maps/), then take the garage entrance on your right-hand side, halfway up the hill. Follow the ‘Elevator’ signs inside the garage to exit the garage on foot (elevator exits are located in Kennedy Hall and O’Donovan Hall).
On weekends (Saturday and Sunday), the Southwest parking garage is open to visitors free of charge.

Internet Access

In the Intercultural Center (ICC), our conference venue, there are a few publicly accessible Macs located in the hallway on the first and second floor.
There are also a few Macs located in the Sellinger Lounge of the Leavey Center (outside the Uncommon Grounds coffee shop).
Lauinger Library has Internet facilities on the first floor (Gelardin New Media Center) and the third floor (lobby). You must present an ID (e.g. driver’s license or passport) to enter the Library.

Photocopying and Printing

On campus: Lauinger Library has self-service copiers and printers (these require that you purchase a copy card). There is also a color copier on the first floor, in the Gelardin New Media Center. Off campus: There is a Fedex Kinko store at 3329 M Street (on M Street between 33rd and 34th Street) where you can print and make copies. For general information see http://www.kinkos.com.

Dining

On campus: Epicurean and Company offers a variety of sit-down dining choices, from sushi to pizza to salads. They also have a full bar. Please see their comprehensive website HERE.
Also on campus: the Leavey Center, nearly adjacent to the conference venue, features: Cosi M – Fri 11am to 5pm, Pizza Hut Express M – Fri 10am to 5pm Subway M – F 7am to 9pm, S & S 10am to 7pm KFC Express M – F 10am to 5pm Taco Bell Express M – F 9am to 5pm, Starbucks M – F 6:30am to 5pm
Very close to campus: Wisemiller’s on 36th Street (1 block from the Georgetown University main gate) offers bagels, hot and cold sandwiches, coffee, snacks, and small groceries. There is no sit-down dining; Saxby’s at the corner of 35th and O Streets (2 blocks from campus) has cold sandwiches and salads as well as pastries and coffee; Booeymonger (3265 Prospect Street – about 5 blocks from campus) sells sandwiches salads, and coffee; The Tombs on 36th Street (1 block from the university main gates) is a classic meeting spot for Georgetown University students and faculty for casual dining.
Off campus: Georgetown is one of DC’s main dining spots. A short walk down M Street, Prospect Street, or Wisconsin Avenue will take you to many restaurants serving a wide range of cuisines.
